​
CREATOR - The Source of All Things, including the Universal Seven.
​
​
FATE - One of the Universal Seven, the personification of destiny, and a little bit full of Herself. She narrates the Book of Fate.
​
TIME - One of the Universal Seven, the personification of duration, and has been described by readers as "a bit of a jerk". He's actually just a bit set in His ways, and has the voice of Christopher Lee in my head.
​
DEATH - One of the Universal Seven and the most fun-loving of them all. She is known to throw excellent parties, and enjoys having a good time.
​
CHANCE & LUCK - The conjoined twins and two of the Universal Seven. Chance is rather crass, while Luck is a deaf-blind mute.
​
NATURE - Androgynous and elusive, and one of the Universal Seven.
​
CHAOS - Chained up until the end of the universe, the only inactive member of the Universal Seven.

KRISTOF ISROD VON HISSE - also known as "The Impaler", a sadistic blood-drinking tyrant with a complex past

FÉNRYR THE DEATHLESS - Kristof's Champion and Blood Brother, facially disfigured by an incurable skin disease

VASSILISSA MORÉVNA - Kristof's lonely mortal sister, engaged to LARS VON GGARRÉT but in love with Fénryr, her old tutor
SYGGVARD VON GGARRÉT - a noble whose rich and fertile lands border Kristof's. He suffers from a rather nasty illness and has two living heirs, LARS and JORD.

LARS VON GGARRÉT - a scarred and vengeful warrior plotting Kristof's downfall. Lars blames Kristof for the "suicide" of his cousin JORD.

JORD VON GGARRÉT - betrothed to Kristof, she apparently drowned herself when he jilted her

JASTRIDA - Kristof's first wife, who died from confusing mushrooms with toadstools (allegedly)

RASSTIL - half-man, half-lizard, Rasstil wants to become a physician and live in peace with his human Soul Mate TYRA
